Our Pastor
Bishop Don Johnson
Senior Pastor
On the first Sunday in June, 1958, Bro. Johnson, his wife Jean, and their two children
(with a third one on the way) held their first service here with twenty-three people
present. The Johnsons lived in Blue Mountain, Mississippi at the time and commuted
to Memphis to hold services on Sundays.
They finally moved to Memphis in November of that year. Bro. Johnson held a job, in
addition to pastoring, in order to support the family, but the church grew quickly
and he was soon able to leave his job.
In the years since the Johnsons began pastoring the work here in Memphis, a
considerable amount of new property has been purchased and built on. The new 700 seat
auditorium was completed in 1984.
Since his installation as pastor of Grey Road, Bro. Johnson has ministered all over
the United States and Canada and in over 43 countries! Bro. Johnson has met with
several notable political figures during his ministry. Former President Ronald Reagan,
Former President George H. W. Bush, and Senators Robert Byrd and Strom Thurmond.
We are truly blessed to have such a wonderful pastor and pastor's wife as Bro. & Sis. Johnson!
